Italian and Burgers. Not at the same time.

I am SO BEHIND (because in between my non-stop eating is sleeping! I am exhausted!) so right now I am going to smoosh two food destinations together that do not go together. Firstly, Mazzi's in Eugene.  It's a beautiful italian restaurant that also runs a bakery around the corner next to it. It's deeeeeeelicious. I know, I know. I say everything is delicious. To be fair, Momma J only takes me to places that are delicious. BEHOLD MAZZI's.

Grandpa D had some eggplant parmesean. MMMM I did not taste it but it looked really good.
I had this pizza that was homemade pesto, artichoke, chicken and mozz. The pesto was made with almonds instead of pine nuts.
 Interior.
Bread from the bakery (called Hideaway Bakery ) It was a very light and fluffy roll....I still have one that I have hoarded.
Momma J was eating this giant meat lasagna which she let me taste. It was so good, I'm sorry Jerms wasn't there to taste it. (Whenever I make a meatless or veggie lasagna he can only say BUT WHY).
 Rad lamp

MMMM. Now onto the Gas Station Burger place. It's called Burger House . It's this tiny restaurant/bar (wine and beer and CHEAP. Like $6 for a flight, which I did not try because it was like 2pm and I needed to be awake for more eating later.)
Momma J had a bbq burger thing...

I had fish and chips which was more than enough food for me to eat. Super flaky and fresh fish. MMMMMMM.
In conclusion. I enjoyed all of this and would like more. NOM NOM NOM I AM READY FOR EATING FOR TODAY.

Big Dog Donuts

So the other day we went to a fun place called Big Dog Donuts.  It's in Florence, Oregon which is AMAZING. I love it! This is probably my third visit to this place and EVERY TIME I EAT JALAPENO BISCUITS AND GRAVY AND IT IS SO GOOD OMG I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
It's in an old gas station, which makes it extra fun and neat. I also love (not pictured) the super old non-heated bathroom. It's glorious and vintage and beautiful. It reminds me of the old bathrooms at the old old drive in theater we used to go to back in the day.
A maple buttermilk bar and a double chocolate donut. (YESSSSSSS!)
As promised....biscuits and gravy. It was a chilly morning, in the sixties so the food was hot and steamy. I tried to take a photo of it, but it really didn't work so whatever.
Just a random pretty flower. OMG.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE WANT TO EAT ALL. We got up super early so we would be there by like 9, and there would be donuts.

See the steam? No? Ok. I tried. Also; lightest, most flakiest biscuits I have ever eaten.

Ice cream-LICORICE

Howdy friends! Yesterday I tried the most interesting delicacy here in Oregon....black licorice ice cream.  Now. I know most of you do not enjoy the black licorice, but we all know that I love any and all candy and I LOVE black licorice. Fun fact, if you want everyone in your family to leave you alone, start eating some black licorice and then threaten to breathe on them. Works every time. (*i don’t think I have actually ever done that? Maybe? Idk*)

Umpqua dairy is a local dairy in Oregon. The ice cream is v. creamy and rich. HOWEVER. I was only getting a teensy hit on anise at the end (which, actually Momma J told me because I could barely taste it). A little disappointed but only because I wanted it to smack me in the face with black licorice flavor. Fun fact #2 I like the licorice better than the black jelly beans but I do always separate the black jellies and eat them together. Mmmmm

Ainslee’s was in Depoe Bay, Oregon. We went whale watching there and saw probably five or six whales....or the same whale five  or six times. Beautiful beach town. I’m not going to do a separate post about it, but we also had a caramel cheese mix of popcorn where the caramel was APPLIED TO THE CHEESE. V. Different but also tasty. Not as good as Chicago mix but still, sweet and savory together.

In conclusion, if you just are a casual lover of anise, try the ice cream. If you love black twizzlers and jellies and those fisherman cough drops (remember those?) and Salerno Christmas cookies....just get another flavor. Mmmmmmmm but popcorn....

Ice Cream for Breakfast!

So today, we were tootling around doing errands and decided we should eat at Dari Mart for breakfast. We both (momma J and I) had salted caramel ice cream. Spell check just yelled at me for spelling "caramel" like "carmel". Whatevs. I pronounce it CAR-MEL because I am from the midwest and spell check can suck it. (JK I love you spell check.)
Then for lunchy we went to Long's Meat Market. Momma J had a BBQ Sandwich. It was super tender and had great flavor, even without sauce.

I had the apple and brie sandwich because cheese.

Here are a few other photos from the meat market. It's cute. It smelled amazing and you could watch the butchers RIGHT THERE cutting everything up. This place was delicious and I definitely would go back.
Note: Neither of us got the Ham! IDK why it had a random exclamation point.

Nom Nom Steak Tacos

Virtual Momma J has been trying to get me to make these steak tacos FOR MONTHS. Now that I am here with her in Oregon, she is making me try them.
So. For this recipe we needed skirt steak, corn, and various seasonings etc.
It's a recipe from the skinnytaste lady over at Cooking Light.
First of all, I have never seen white corn in person. In a can yes. In popped popcorn yes. In a grocery store...no. TBH it tasted the same to me as yellow corn. Interesting.
Finished product with grilled sweet potato and grilled zukes. YUMMO.
IDK why I took a picture of cheese on a plate?
We made the corn topping. Elotes. No cilantro because Momma J does not like it.
Notice how expensive the corn is here? IT is not corn country here. But it is GIANT corn country so win win. Every ear was really good looking, and fat.
Make this recipe. I will be making it again because it is v. delicious and easy. Hardest part honestly was cooking the beef. MMMM. MAKE THIS IMMEDIATELY.

How about some delicious Hawaiian Food...

Okey dokey! So for lunch one day we were out and about and ended up eating over yonder at the delicious and never before eaten at by me, Hawaiian Time.  It's a plate lunch place that serves all kinds of regular hawaiian food, like hawaiian bbq, katsu etc.
It's a pretty nice location....just from looking at it doesn't it look fun? Like you might be able to go surfing or something? YESSS.
I just liked this ceiling and photo because Palm Trees and islandyness.
I don't know why this menu decided that it should not post near the other photo of the menu. It doesn't matter.
J had the terikyaki chicken
I had the Mauna Loa chicken which was a teriyaki with kind of a chili paste on it and it was super delicious. And spicy. A YES.
This would be an excellent place to visit. Seventeen stars (or however that works). Maybe seventeen surfboards? IDK. GO THERE.
