As previously mentioned in yesterday's blog which was in fact Taco Tuesday- I did have steak tacos. But today was a new day and tacos were on the menu yet again but home cooked by yours truly. Typically I run to a supermarket and get some steak and cut it up myself. This time however I was by my current favorite Hispanic food market La Chiquita in Montgomery, IL. They are officially a chain now but the first one to open was actually in Little Village at 26th Street and Central Park. So clearly I was going to try out the one nearby when it had opened. Anyway went in and they have prepared types of meats and decided to give this a shot:

Overall it came out pretty good. I will say there was a lot of untrimmed fat in the meat selection is kind of gross if you're not into it. But outside of that was pretty good and time saving. Not sure if I would specifically get this again based on the fat- but I would probably go back and get an uncut version and do the extra work.
Funny enough when I first started dating the wife she hated corn tortillas. The reason why is she didn't know that you had to heat/steam them up before you serve/use them. So first time she made some tacos which she used corn tortillas cause I always said I like them over flour ones. She gets it done and I'm like um these tortillas are dry cause I'm a jerk who will say something. So at that time I showed her the trick of wetting paper napkins, wrapping the tortillas with them, and microwaving them for like a minute or so. She was amazed cause she had always hated corn tortillas til that point in time. Awesome enough they sell tortilla warmers now in stores so makes it even easier. I'm pretty sure I bought one for my mother-in-law, Tina, and random other folks

| Y Salsa? Blueberry |
It was pretty different once again as I've never had blueberry flavor at all. Overall I liked it but I think the spiciness/jalapeño flavor negated the taste of blueberry. I enjoyed the freshness of it though so even though not very blueberry flavor (in my opinion) the freshness made up for it. Definitely would try other varieties from these folks up in Wisconsin.
Pretty much the other spicy item came in the form of dessert that Tina got for me while on a recent vacation to the great state of Oregon- "GO Ducks!" (I think that's what they all yell out there for no reason). Tina knows me fairly well and the fact that I'll try weird/new things all the time. Her gift was this crazy concoction:

| Dark Chocolate Habanero Fudge |
Feisty Fudge's dark chocolate habanero flavored fudge. When I first tried it I forgot it was suppose to be spicy so I was like "Man there is something wrong with this fudge..." Which then upon seeing the package and reading the word "habanero" I was thought to myself "what a dumb ass I am". But yeah its definitely unique and not for everyone I would imagine. I high enjoy it cause its a nice combination of dark chocolate and spiciness.
So the extended Taco Tuesday was very spicy and muy excellente! Is it possible to do Mexican food 3 days in a row? I would vote yes but I get out voted by la jefa on things so we'll find out.
