I've previously been to the restaurant the first time I was in Denver and enjoyed it. Denver Biscuit Company (http://www.denbisco.com/) which you would guess by the name is well known for its biscuits and incorporate them in all their sandwiches. Apparently the food truck and the restaurant were started around the same time. It does meet Tina's prerequisite of being picked by Guy Fieri and featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives so we no doubt know she would approve of it.
The Biscuit Bus (food truck) as its known doesn't have the full menu as the restaurant but does have the key/most popular items in my opinion. With all the options available at the farmer's market, I think I was still surprised that we encountered a line and eventual wait on the food. In the end it was well worth it as this food was "on fleek" as them young kids would say.
My lovely sister-in-law Leslie bought this lovely meal for us all. If you know me or have been a part of food squad goals, you know I'm the type who likes to pay for everyone. I think for whatever reason its my way to show appreciation for folks spending time with me. Typically I put up shenanigans and what not to be able to pay. I know different circles don't run that way and kind of leave it to everyone pays for themselves. I will say that I've been getting better about fitting into those customs even if I don't fully agree with them. But when folks do pay for me I am very grateful and appreciate it. So shout outs to Leslie as this was awesome all around.
Leslie got the biscuits and gravy. Now I for one never go into these in general before as previously stated in another blog. This was not the case with these as we established in yesterday's blog we're a family that shares our food. Tried it out and hot damn were they they actually very tasty. Fully get why Leslie got them. Definitely should order them if you're into biscuits and gravy or in a mood for something different.
My brother Sam got the DBC Club which has buttermilk fried chicken, tender belly bacon, cheddar cheese, shredded iceberg, tomato & chipotle ranch. Funny note me and my brother think alike food wise so when ordering he was saying the same items I was thinking about. Kind of hard to order and try new things if we keep trying to pick the same ones. Still we typically just say you order this and I'll order the opposite choice when we run into these situations. The sandwich itself was very tasty but I don't recall much of the chipotle ranch standing out too much personally.
I ended up ordering The Franklin which included buttermilk fried chicken, tender belly bacon, and cheddar cheese smothered in sausage gravy. Calorie counting was destroyed this trip for sure. But honestly I didn't eat the whole sandwich so that counts on the healthy side of things right? It was well worth it as that sandwich was very tasty
Karen and Lily shared the Cordon Bleu with has buttermilk fried chicken, tender belly ham, cheddar cheese & local Colorado honey butter. They both thoroughly enjoyed it. I think the only drawback was that part of the chicken used was a bit tough in their sandwich. Not sure if it was overcooked or what but Karen actually enjoyed it even with that small glitch.
This was also the first time I tried apple butter. Unfortunately I did not remember to take a picture of it but we had an extra biscuit by itself with a side of apple butter to try. I would imagine its like the equivalent of coconut oil...if it was butter...and unhealthy...nope not the equivalent at all... ANY WHO that apple butter was pretty outrageous and definitely would like to get some more of that.
That was pretty much the only new food items for the day as we headed back home today. Which on a side note- our plane got delayed because of some ass clown getting sick- right as the plane door closed and vomiting all over the lavatory (why aren't they call restrooms?) and section in front of it. That dude got escorted off the plane and we ended up leaving a 1/2 hour later than schedule due to the cleanup.
For dinner on the plane we brought along some of the left overs we had acquired over the week. Was a good call and hit the spot for sure. Might have been risky as they closed down the one laboratory that got the Exorcist treatment from that ass clown. Still overall was a good foodie day albeit kind of sad to be leaving Sam and Leslie. You two will be missed.
