Decided to get some historical sight seeing in today and hit up the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave in Golden, Colorado. (
www.buffalobill.org) More specifically it is on top of Lookout Mountain Park. It's a nice 1/2 hour trip from Denver so not too crazy high into the mountains but a great scenic drive and location. Apparently he wanted to be able to look over the Great Plains and the Rockies. Buffalo Bill was the epitome of the American Wild West. Definitely worth the drive.
Funny enough the food there was more expensive than the actual museum. Museum for the 3 of us was $11 while the food was like $26. Still wasn't too shabby food wise. As part of their gift shop - Pahaska Tepee- they have an attached Karen ended up getting a buffalo burger, Lily got a hot dog, and I got a buffalo dog and a side order of onion rings. No worries I wasn't sure what was a buffalo dog was so I asked. As any one could have guessed it was a hot dog made with bison meat. So Reef why didn't you say buffalo meat? Because Buffalo only exist in Asia and Africa. Why do I know this? Because Karen looked it up as I was like aren't bison and buffalo the same thing.

The food was pretty good but nothing special. Probably the highlight was the onion rings which appeared to be freshly made and very crispy. Buffalo burger was pretty good for the taste I got of that. Buffalo dog seemed to be a better spiced hot dog but I liked it. Lily loved her hot dog. They did have homemade fudge which we did give end up buying small samplees. Karen got a Cashew Grizzly, Lily got fudge with M&Ms, and I got peanut buttered salted caramel. They were good but I think overpriced.
Nearby (5 miles or so) is a buffalo herd overlook at Genesse Park so we decided to check it out. Basically the built fences to protect/raise bison near the highway. So if you trek over there you can actually see bison doing their thing. Pretty awesome scenery for sure. While there decided to stop by the Genesee Country Store and look around in there. They too had homemade fudge with samples out. Needless to say we ended up buying some cause vacation rules dictate go for it.

They had all sorts of flavors which were good- we ended up buying a fruit sorbet fudge, chocolate walnut, chocolate with bacon, Reese's fudge, and a peanut butter fudge. Don't worry too much I only had a small piece of one later on after we got back.
Later on for dinner we wanted to try out some Thai food. Kind of had apprehensions as my brother stated he hadn't found any good Chinese food which isn't a good sign for other Asiatic foods. Not saying my brother is an expert in Asiatic food but he did live in South Korea for a year or so and traveled to other countries in Asia. Apparently there is a Chinatown in Denver- that might have to be a research project/adventure for another time. Personally I prefer Thai food over Chinese food as it tends to be more savory, a bit sweeter, and less salty. I mean this all depends where you go so the opposite can be true as well.
So upon some research decided to give Thai Pot Cafe (
www.thaipotcafe.com) a shot. Not sure if there's any significance to their name as it did seem kind of Karen and Lily got Chicken Pad Thai, I got basil fried rice, and my brother got Beef Pad Kee Mao. For appetizers ended up getting Crab Rangoon and Chicken Satay. We ended up ordering carry out as we were all tired (us from the day out and my brother from working). So pictures might not be all that flattering.

The food over all was really good minus the Chicken Satay. First the negative- Chicken Satay was overcooked which made it tough to eat. Also pretty thin pieces of chicken so not worth it. The peanut sauce it came with was excellent. Now the positives: Everything else was cooked very well, tasted very fresh, and overall had a lot of flavor. Also they give you the option for spice level- which funny enough is 0 to 5 scale which has American starting at 0 and Thai at 5. They give you that option for every item so that is very cool for folks who aren't into or heavily into spicy food. Not saying this is the best Thai food but was a good first attempt for Denver. I would eat there again for sure.
